  • Description :
This is a 3D animation I worked with Kay Kwan, my classmate in my major project for my Master Degree. In this project, I'm responsible for designing and creating the environment as long as animating some of the scenes in the animation.
Background: In Hong Kong, there is a type of room called a "coffin room," which describes a flat with very limited space. Typically, it can only accommodate a single bed or a bunk bed, and all belongings must be hung on the walls or stored under the mattress. The living conditions can be challenging due to the proximity of neighbouring flats. Through storytelling, we want to illustrate the challenges faced by individuals living in such cramped conditions and raise awareness about their struggles. The animation will highlight the small and crowded living spaces in Hong Kong and the emotional toll it can take on its residents.
Storyline: In a cramped coffin room, an elderly couple struggles to find comfort. Sleeping in opposite directions to maximize space, they navigate their confined existence. The wife, burdened with the care of her ailing and disabled husband, shoulders the responsibilities of cooking, cleaning, and scavenging cardboard boxes for extra income. Overwhelmed by stress and despair, she reminisces about a time when life was brighter, before her husband fell ill and lost his job. Despite her efforts, her husband's refusal to take medication, resigned to his fate, adds to her anguish. In a moment of desperation, she contemplates ending her husband's suffering, believing it will bring an end to her torment.
